Ryan Newman Foundation logo featured on Truck in Homestead

Homestead, FL (November16, 2006)--During the Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the No. 21 Wood Brothers/JTG Craftsman Truck entry, driven by Bobby East, will carry several new logos, promoting popular pet name brand products which support animal adoption.

In addition to Fresh Step® Cat Litter, the Ryan Newman Foundation, the Greg Biffle Foundation, and the Animal Adoption League, two new logos have also been added. The New Hampshire Humane Society (NHHS), located in Laconia, New Hampshire, and the North Shore Animal League (NSAL), of Fort Washington, New York, have joined in on the other animal-related truck sponsors for the running of the Ford 200 Craftsman Truck Series event, to be held on Friday night, November 17th. All of the charitable organizations have partnered at different times in 2006 to support animal-related projects originating in North Carolina.

The North Shore Animal League and The New Hampshire Humane Society have supported the Animal Adoption League and The Greg Biffle Foundation through pet transport projects, which deliver adoptive animals to the northeastern part ofthe U.S. Both provide adoption services for pets rescued in Charlotte, NC and surrounding counties. Both the reason and direction of the pet transports has to do with the Northeast’s aggressive spay and neuter programs, dating back decades. The aggressive programs have actually created a real need for adoptable pets.

“What it amounts to is that there is a shortage of adoptable animals in that particular region,” stated Jodi Geschickter, co-owner of Wood Brothers/JTG Racing. “Frequently in our home region of the southeast, we have an abundance of adoptable animals that we literally send on different travel legs up the East
Coast—where the pets will have a better chance of becoming members of a loving family,” she added.

Geschickter is not alone in her efforts. Rather, she’s been able to team up with other partners, of who also have pet’s best interests in mind when it comes to finding homes for animals.

“Aggressive Spay/Neuter projects and progressive legislation in the Northeast has addressed the pet overpopulation problem,” said Nicole Lunders, founder of the Greg Biffle Foundation. ”We hope to learn from their efforts on behalf of animal control and emulate their success here over time,” she added.

“We realize that we can’t rescue our way out of the pet overpopulation problem in the Southeast, but we will begin to address the problem though specific spay/neuter efforts and the additional placement of adoptable pets with these two well-founded organizations. We are grateful for their partnerships and look forward to their continued support,” replied Jodi Geschickter, also a member of the Animal Adoption League (AAL).

Wood Brothers/JTG Team Co-Owner Tad Geschickter had the following to say: ”We’re more than happy to be able to lend our resources to charitable causes. We hope that the partnerships that have formed this year will carry on into next season and continue to make a broad impact on pet care and education.”

Another partner in the process, Krissie Newman, wife of NASCAR driver Ryan Newman and co-founder of the Ryan Newman Foundation, says, "Across the nation, county animal shelters have to put dogs and cats to death because there aren’t enough homes for all of the puppies and kittens being born each year. The only statistically proven way to stop the animal overpopulation epidemic is by spaying and neutering pets. In addition to adopting pets from animal shelters, we have to prevent unwanted breeding to save lives. I'm really proud of the way the motorsports community has gotten behind this issue and is working together
to make a difference.”

Fresh Step® Cat Litter is a product of the Clorox Sales Company, sponsor of both the 47 and 59 Busch series cars owned by Wood Brothers/JTG Racing. Space for all animal-rescue related decals was donated by Wood Bros/JTG Racing long standing supporters of the Animal Adoption League.
