The Ryan Newman Foundation

(Statesville, NC – July 10, 2012) – Ryan Newman has waited patiently to start his trek north and the hopes of reclaiming what he lost a year ago at the 1.058-mile oval known as New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The veteran driver will once again compete in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Series race this weekend. It’s the first of three races the self-proclaimed hobby farmer has on the books for the season. The Sprint Cup Series regular isn’t just hoping – he’s expecting to win Saturday’s Town Fair Tire 100 race and take the trophy that eluded him and his crew last year due to a post-race inspection, stripping them of the top spot.

Newman visited the track he won his first series race in June. During the event, he spoke about the upcoming race weekend, fishing, cars and the passion he and wife Krissie share towards animals. The Humane Society of New Hampshire was the beneficiary of a $1,000 donation on behalf of the track and the Ryan Newman Foundation. The donation was then matched by Ryan to help with their efforts in saving and adopting out homeless pets. Newman was originally set to take military, media and fans for ride-alongs in antique cars that included former speedway owner Bob Bahre’s 1936 Duesenberg SJN which has a current value of $5 million dollars. Rain not being a friend of cars worth that much, Newman settled for a 1955 Chevrolet 210 for a spin around the facilities 1.6-mile road course.

Once the skies cleared up Newman spent time fishing with local personality and host of NBC Sports show “The Mad Fisherman”. The two went on the water to tape an upcoming show.

“I was in New Hampshire in June and had a great time doing something out of the ordinary to help promote the track and sell tickets,” said Newman. “I even got to fish with Charlie Moore for a bit to help him out with an outdoor show he does. The Lake was Crystal Lake and believe me, while driving to it couldn’t help but think of a man in a mask jumping in front of the car.”

Newman is set to return to the granite state in the No. 7NY Chevy sponsored by Aggressive Hydraulics with Menards with native northerner and team owner Kevin “Bono” Manion on top the box calling the shots.

“During interviews I am sure I said a few times that this race has crossed my mind a few times this year and I want to win on Saturday. I went home from here last year with zero Modified trophies and I need to change that because I enjoy having them in my case. Hopefully I’ll have a good car and luck when it’s time to race.”

“I wouldn’t mind rolling off the truck with the car driving exactly like it has the last few years. Modified racing is a ball to do and I enjoy and look forward to the few I do each year. Running good and having a shot at the win is what I do it for.”
